Vern G. Atwater

Vern G. Atwater, 70, formerly of Minneapolis, Minn., passed away on Monday, Dec. 26, 2022, after a fierce battle with CJD. Vern was cremated and a Celebration of Life is planned for summer 2023.
Vern was born Dec. 10, 1952, to George and Esther (Booth) Atwater. He was a graduate of Marion High School and Coe College. He loved his family, kettlebells, bikes, "The Far Side," Motown music, traveling, shooting, politics and a good argument.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Nancy; children, Libby and Kirk (Taylor); his siblings, Sharon (Gary) Knapp, Sue Kelly and Larry (Sue) Atwater; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lloyd.
If a memorial is your wish, the family encourages donations to local youth sports programs (preferably football) or start a personal exercise program (Vern preferred squats, push-ups and swings).
